Reporting directly to the Dorothy Wagner Wallis Director and serving on the Senior Leadership Team, the CEA will be instrumental in shaping the BMA's future.

This individual will be a strategic architect, crafting and executing plans to elevate the museum's local, national, and international presence. From cultivating philanthropic partnerships to maximizing earned revenue streams, the CEA will leverage diverse marketing tactics to attract a broader audience and ensure a captivating museum experience.

Fundraising Maestro & Relationship Cultivator

The CEA will be a fundraising virtuoso, inspiring the Board of Trustees, the Director, and community leaders to drive fundraising success. Utilizing data-driven strategies and staying ahead of evolving trends, they will secure vital resources to support the museum's ambitious vision. Building relationships within Baltimore's diverse communities will be paramount, as the CEA serves as a visible and engaging ambassador for the BMA.

Collaborating with curators and other key stakeholders, the CEA will cultivate relationships with collectors and donors, strategically acquiring art that enriches the BMA's collection and reinforces its commitment to artistic excellence and social justice.

Marketing & Community Engagement Innovator

The CEA will be a champion of audience development, implementing innovative plans grounded in market research and digital marketing trends. They will oversee a comprehensive brand engagement strategy that resonates with a diverse range of audiences, donors, and stakeholders who share the museum's values of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility.

Working closely with Curatorial, Education, and Exhibitions teams, the CEA will develop engaging programs that strengthen community participation and enhance the museum's national and international reputation.

Team Leader & Operational Mastermind

The CEA will be an inspiring leader, guiding and mentoring the Advancement and Marketing & Communications teams. Fostering a culture of boldness and relevance, they will empower their teams to achieve ambitious goals and position the BMA as a thriving arts organization.

As an operational mastermind, the CEA will oversee budgets, provide accurate reporting and analysis, and ensure the integrity of financial records. They will cultivate a supportive and collaborative work environment built on respect, teamwork, and clear communication.

Qualifications & Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of securing significant gifts, leading integrated revenue programs, and executing successful marketing campaigns. A minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience in an art, cultural, or education institution is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

The BMA offers a competitive salary and generous benefits package, including an annual base salary estimated between $175,000 and $195,000, along with comprehensive health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
